Frequently asked questions

What EDU is, how it works and where to start.

What is EDU?

EDU is the online platform that shows Grade 8 to 12 learners what they are naturally good at, guides their subject and career choices, and builds the life skills they need during and after school. It brings everything together in one place: career and personality assessments, clear career guidance without the clutter, and short online skills courses your child can start today. You buy once and keep lifetime access to the content, from Grade 8 right through matric and beyond.

How does it work?

The Career Compass assessment costs R 295. Life Skills courses are R 495 each, and bundles save you more: Career Compass + 1 Course for R 695, + 3 Courses for R 1 295, or + All Courses for R 5 995. Every purchase is covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee.

How long does it take?

Enjoy a programme that fits into any busy schedule and works toward creating an individual that is ready to tackle life. Complete courses in your own time with a self-driven learning path.

Courses take approximately 30 minutes to an hour a week, spanning over 36 weeks — leaving more than enough time to do life.

Where do I start?

It is recommended that young people start their journey with EDU in Grade 8 and continue until the end of Grade 12; however, you can join at any age and reap the benefits.

Which grades is EDU for?

Grades 8 to 12. Start in any grade; it's never too early or too late. And if school is already behind you, the assessments and career guidance work just as well after matric.

Can my child start mid-year?

Yes. Everything is online and self-paced. Start any day of the year.

Can you use EDU after school?

Yes. The assessments and the career guidance tools aren't limited to school years: school leavers, gap-year students and young adults who still feel unsure use Career Compass to find their direction. The Life Skills courses, confidence, emotional intelligence, study methods, money smarts, have no age limit either. Many are at their most useful just after school, when life suddenly demands them.

Is EDU available in Afrikaans?

The full Life Skills course library is available in Afrikaans. The Career Compass assessment is currently in English, with Afrikaans on the way.

How long does Career Compass take?

It varies from child to child; most learners finish in about half an hour, at their own pace. The personalised report arrives in minutes.

Do I receive the report as the parent?

The report goes to your child, the person who completes the assessment. It's designed to be read together, and that conversation is where it earns its keep.

Who developed it?

Career Compass was developed by Ikigai, an EDU company, for South African learners, and is powered by an AI career matching engine.

Is Career Compass all EDU offers?

No. Career Compass is the front door. EDU's full platform takes learners through three steps: discover your purpose, plan your path, and prepare for it with life skills courses open to every learner. Your child's report points to the exact next steps.

What if it's not for us?

Every purchase is covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked.

Can our school run EDU?

Yes. Schools run EDU for a single grade or all five, in class, at home or blended. See EDU for schools for what your school gains, or start a conversation.
